The humanitarian assistance to IDPs and vulnerable children took place on Saturday August 27, 2022, one week to the start of the 2022/2023 academic year.
The sum of one million five hundred thousands francs (FCFA 1.500.000) was donated by Justice Malegho Joseph, elite of the Kejom community and Secretary General at the Constitutional Council of the republic of Cameroon.
“I cannot be sitting comfortably in my office, when I know that my children are out there facing educational challenges and I stay indifferent”, says Justice Malegho.
The amount donated was shared equally among the fifteen (15) IDPs and vulnerable children selected by a committee put in place for the purpose. Each child received the sum of one hundred thousands francs (FCFA 100.000).
“This year, we are looking at primary school children facing back to school challenges, next year, we might widen the scope as God provides”, Justice Malegho said.
While distributing the envelopes to the beneficiaries, the representative of the donor, Mr. Ngwonam Denis, delivered the donors message.
“This assistance is essentially for back to school needs like fees, uniform, didactic materials …etc, and should not be used otherwise”, he revealed.
The beneficiaries could not hide their feelings after receiving their envelopes.
“God will bless our elder brother for us, I don’t know him personally but he came to my assistance at this very crucial moment, that is the show of genuine concern and love for your people”, one of the IDP parent, Kiambom Rachel told News Upfront.
Contacted on phone, another parent revealed that the child who was not able to be present during the ceremony has extended appreciation to the donor.
