Surviving Victims of the Anglophone crisis now residing in the economic capital of Cameroon, Douala are vulnerable to contract the deadly Coronavirus.

Since the declaration of the first contaminated case in the country, the number has increased at a geometric rate with Yaounde and Douala hard hit by the pandemic in Cameroon.

Already faced with financial hardship, life has become more difficult for them to afford protective items against the Covid-19.

Its against such backdrop that the Popular Action Party, PAP launched a sensitization campaigns and distribution of items to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Douala last April 4.
PAP’s National Communication Secretary, Fabrice Lena told News Upfront that they had gathered data which shows that most of these IDPs cannot afford the items required to stay safe from the Covid-19 virus or the food to eat during these moments of partial shutdown.

The IDPs in the Mabanda neighbourhood in Bonaberi-Douala, were sensitized about Covid-19 and received hand sanitizers, face masks and finacial support to help them stay safe from the “war”virus.

“We also decided to start with Douala because in the days ahead, we shall do similar gesture in Yaounde, Limbe and perhaps Bafoussam,” Lena said.

Aside from the PAP party, the Cameroon Renaissance Movement, CRM is also reported to have done similar exercise and set hand washing points in certain parts of the West Region.
