Cameroons Telecommunications (CAMTEL) and the Ministry of Public Service and Administrative Reform have signed a convention which will permit the Ministry to store it’s data at CAMTEL’s data center in Zamengoé.

The convention was signed on Monday, June 13, 2022 in Yaounde.

“This is a very important step in what we are trying to do in terms of modernizing our administration”, the Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reform, Joseph Le said during the signing ceremony.

“We are modernizing, we are digitizing and we are safeguarding, but when we do these, we need a solid infrastructure where we can keep and protect all these data”, he continued.

Since 2008, the Ministry has been digitizing it’s services and as progress is made, there is need for security and safety.

CAMTEL is equipped to receive, host, and protect the data from loss, malicious manipulation, and theft, which are common these days especially in administrations.

According to the General Manager of CAMTEL, Judith Yah Sunday Epse Achidi, the convention is of great importance both to CAMTEL and the entire administration of the republic.

“Government has invested a lot of resources in building the data center as well as other telecom infrastructure, so as the main operator, it was important that we start the process of securing public service data”, she said.

“The data center is open to all”, Judith Yah told reporters.

With ‘change management and customer centricity’, CAMTEL is offering professional service to a wide range of sectors in the country and beyond.
