The American-styled University and its founder, Prof Victor Mbarika were recently conferred two prestigious international awards by the International committee of excellence, ICE.

While the ICT University bagged the prize of “Sub-Regional Award for Academic Excellence and Innovation 2021”, its founder, United States-based Cameroonian, Prof Victor Mbarika was honoured with the distinction of “African Entrepreneurship Prize 2021”.

In a letter announcing the awards, the organisers of the initiative wrote “We hereby inform you that during its first annual meeting held on 26 January 2022 in Ndjamena, Chad, the International committee of excellence, ICE has decided in accordance with the decision of the jury N°0026/Pj-01-2022, to confer the Sub-Regional Award For Academic Excellence And Innovation 2021 on your institution“.

“Indeed, Mr. President, this award which is part of excellence and merit on the Continental level, recognizes and salutes the excellence, the innovation and the performance of this leading institution of higher education…” the letter continued.

The organization said the distinctions awarded to ICT University and its youthful and dynamic founder, are part of the group’s valorisation of Excellence and Merit on the sub-regional and continental.

They mentioned that the awards are intended to “encourage and salute your exceptional entrepreneurial course on the one hand, and on the other hand, the excellence, the innovation and the performance within ICT-University …”

Why the awards no surprise

The ICT University in all fairness is amongst the fastest growing universities in Africa and beyond.

With just over ten years of its existence, the ICT University has gained international recognition and credibility due to its approach to learning.

Little wonder , during the 6th graduation ceremony of students of the University which held in Yaounde last year, former Nigerian Leader, Professor Olusegun Obasanjo who was key note speaker at the event didn’t mince words when he said the ICT University is a reference not only in Africa but beyond.

He was categorical that before long, the ICT University will be in the list of top ten universities in Africa.

“I foresee you emerging in the coming months and years, in the new list of valuable players in driving the wheels of this great nation and amongst the architects. If you sustain this your current level of quality, I also foresee this University in no distant future in the list of top ten universities…”said Obasanjo.
