The three Cameroonian ICT experts who won the 3rd World prize in the 2020 Huawei ICT Global Competition has been honoured by both Huawei and the government of Cameroon.
The ceremony took place Tuesday December 08, 2020 at the National Advanced School of Engineering in Yaounde.
It was presided at by the Secretary General at the Ministry of Higher Education, Prof. Wilfred Gabsa.
The winners of the Huawei ICT Competition, global finals are Meli Songmene Loïc Cedric, Nganiawo Mopi Gaëtan, and Gninghaye Malcolm X, all University students in Douala, Cameroon.
The braved all odds on the global spheres to emerge 3rd, raising the flag of the country high.
On the occasion, the laureates received their prizes and awards.
The Government’s representative on the occasion thanked Huawei for their relentless efforts in transferring knowledge to Cameroonians.
“These are the type of projects that will push the Government of Cameroon to promote Development in the digital sector” Prof. Wilfreid Gabsa said.
The success from Cameroonian students is a booster to Huawei and they are not ready to stop anytime soon.
The Director of Public Relations at Huawei, Edmonde Djiokeng Teboh, told News Upfront that it is even a call for more avenues in Cameroon since they are now aware of talents in the country
“We invite those students and ICT experts who have not yet joined the Huawei ICT Academy to do so for the future is bright” Edmonde Djiokeng Teboh said.
It should be noted that the Program will extend to many more Universities in Cameroon in 2021 allowing more young enthusiastic students to benefit from the trainings.
The representative of the CEO of Huawei disclosed that thanks to the strategic partnership agreement in the field of information and Communication Technology signed in beijing in 2018 between Cameroon and China, Huawei will use it’s International relationships to promote digital transformation in Cameroon.
