Cameroonian born Medical Doctor, Dr Stella Gwandiku-Ambe Immanuel has taken the world by surprise as she declares that hydroxychloroquine used for the treatment of malaria, is an effective treatment for the novel virus, COVID-19.
The 55-year-old was speaking during a press conference on Monday July 27, 2020 in front of the U.S. Supreme Court in Washington, DC featuring members of America’s Frontline Doctors.
The doctor specialised in care physician, told the press that she was deeply touched by the rate at which people are dying in the United States while there exist a cure to the insidious virus that has paralyzed all sectors of the society.
“I have personally treated over 350 patients with COVID.” Adding that even those with complicated diseases like diabetes, High Blood Pressure, Asthma and age persons. “I put them on hydroxychloroquine, zinc and Zithromax… not lost one.”
Several health workers front lining the fight against the pandemic, have been perished but the Dr Stella Immanuel affirms that none of her staff have been infected.
“I’ve put myself, my staff and many doctors that I know, on hydroxychloroquine for prevention, because by the very mechanism of action, it works.” She said insisting that “we receive 10 to 15 patients every day we give them breathing treatment, we only wear mask and none of us has gotten sick.”
According to Geneva-based International Council of Nurses (ICN), over 230,000 health care workers have contracted the disease, and more than 600 have died of it worldwide.
Her decision to use this drug, she explained was based on a study carried out in 2005 by the NIH (National Institute of Health) in the US. The study found out that hydroxychloroquine was efficient in the treatment hiccup which is a symptom of COVID-19.
“So if some fake science, some persons sponsored by some fake pharma companies comes and say we’ve done studies and found out that it doesn’t work, I can tell you categorically, its fake science.” She hammered.
She equally discouraged the wearing of face mask as a means of prevention. “You don’t need mask, there’s a cure.” She said adding that “I know they don’t want you to open schools, No! There is prevention and there is a cure”
She also compare medics who watch patient die without prescribing the right treatment to the good Germans that watch Jews being killed without speaking up.
According to her she is aware of the implications of daring the medical authorities. “If this is the hill that I get nailed on, I will get nail on it. I don’t care” she vowed.
Meanwhile, the World Health Organisation, WHO, had declared the hydroxychloroquine drug not efficient against the pandemic. “While several drug trials are ongoing, there is currently no proof that hydroxychloroquine or any other drug can cure or prevent COVID-19.” The WHO stated.
“The misuse of hydroxychloroquine can cause serious side effects and illness and even lead to death,” it adds.
A similar study conducted by Oxford University had found the drug was not effective against Covid-19 in hospitalised patients.
Viral video pulled down from Social media
The video of the press conference was first published on Breitbart News on Monday July 27 but went viral on major social media platforms like Twitter, YouTube and Facebook. The viral video on Facebook reportedly had more than 14 million views before been taken down same Monday evening for misinformation.
News Upfront gathered from Facebook-owned data-analytics firm, Crowdtangle that it had already been shared for over 600,000 times before it was removed from the platform.
A Facebook spokesperson told the press that the video was removed for sharing fake information related to coronavirus and claims connected “to myths debunked by the WHO.”
With over 40,000 views on YouTube within less than 24hours was also removed for “violating YouTube’s Community Guidelines”.
Twitter on the same vein, scrubbed the video.
A Twitter spokesperson said “we’re taking action in line with our COVID misinformation policy.”
President Donald Trump who shared various versions of the video with his 84 million followers on Twitter also saw his post pulled down.
