The former director of Vision 4 Television was liberated Thursday June 25, 2020.
Many had expected that Ernest Obama would be sent to the Central Prison in Yaounde, Kondengui.
He was set free after spending seven (7) days in detention.
The promoter of Anecdote Media Group, Jean Pierre Amougou Belinga is said to have masterminded the release of Ernest Obama.
Amougou Belinga hours before the liberation of Obama had addressed a letter to the state prosecutor in charge of the affair.
In the letter he presented the wish for the case to be withdrawn and for the journalist to be set free.
The move from Amougou Belinga is seen by some media practitioners as a show of humanity from a father to a son.
Other sources that News Upfront can not Independently comfirm attributes the liberation of Obama to pressure on Amougou Belinga from the Presidency of the Republic of Cameroon.
The former director after regaining his freedom immediately invited some close friends to his residence to celebrate.
With the liberation, many are questioning the next move of both the promoter of Anecdote Media Group and Ernest Obama.
Information gathered indicate that Ernest Obama has no plans of fighting back, but rather to preach peace with the one he calls father.
It is not yet clear if the Journalist will return to his duty post at Anecdote Newspaper or if he could be rehabilitated as director of Vision 4 Television, he former top position.
The Journalist was arrested on June 18, 2020 at his jobside, infront of his colleagues and by a dozen of gendarme and police officers.
He was formally accused by his boss of high level betrayal, abuse of confidence and mismanagement of company funds.
While in detention, his colleagues had organise special TV shows to edify the public on the various accusations against him.
It should be noted that many are those who are still very convinced that the arrest, humiliation, detention and liberation of Ernest Obama was a “comedy” for one reason or the other.
