National telecommunications provider CAMTEL and the Cameroon Real Estate Corporation (SIC) have signed a major agreement to bring reliable, high-speed internet to residential estates across the country.
The deal was signed in Yaoundé by CAMTEL General Manager Judith Yah Sunday Epouse Achidi and SIC Director General Dr. Ahmadou Sardaouna. The main goal of the partnership is to make housing estates modern, smart, and fully connected.
CAMTEL Takes Early Action to Connect Families
Speaking at the signing ceremony, CAMTEL General Manager Judith Yah Sunday Epouse Achidi highlighted the company’s proactive approach:
“We are taking early measures to anticipate and meet internet demands before they build up,” she said.
“Rather than waiting for individual applications, CAMTEL will be pre-installing high-speed fiber infrastructure straight into housing developments.”
This strategy makes getting connected quick and easy, saving families and workers the delay, cost, and stress of setting up personal internet lines from scratch.
30,000 Beneficiaries and 19 Connected Sites
Presenting the practical impact of the deal, SIC Director General Dr. Ahmadou Sardaouna stated:
“Over 30,000 residents across 19 individual SIC sites nationwide will benefit directly from this project, linking our estates to a single central response unit for seamless technical management.”
This centralized response system allows technical teams to monitor network quality, fix problems fast, and manage connections efficiently, giving SIC its own manageable connectivity setup.
Affordability and Built-in Telecom Infrastructure
To make sure everyday families can afford the service, CAMTEL Gzm revealed that “the company is offering connection packages to SIC at giveaway prices”.
This physical rollout is divided into two distinct focus areas. First, inside the residential quarters, families, students, and tenants living in social housing estates will gain fast home internet for learning, working, and daily communication.
Second, across administrative staff offices, workers will receive dedicated internet lines to speed up service delivery and manage property operations smoothly.
Beyond fixing current estates, the partnership ensures that telecommunications lines will now be built directly into architectural plans for all future SIC projects.
Digital connectivity will be treated as an essential utility right from the construction stage, alongside water and electricity.
