An innovation that has bought sundry appreciation; first of it’s kind, an idea that might be borrowed by all African states and even abroad.
The objective is to minimize human interactions in the treatment of Coronavirus.
So far, Four (4) humanoid robots have been tested in Rwanda and doctors trained on how to operate them.
The Robots are capable of monitoring patients vital signs such as temperature, heart beat rates, blood, oxygen level among others.
Responses from patients obtained by the Robots are immediately relayed to doctors and nurses remotely.
Here are the peculiarities of these Robots;
•They have good facial recognition capacity,
•They can enforce proper wearing of face masks,
•They can deliver foodstuff, water and medicine in and out of wards.
According to Rwanda’s Health Minister, Dr. Daniel Ngamije, one Robot can screen 200 patients for temperature in one minute.
“Where a doctor wants to discuss with a patient where the Robot is stationed, the machine has videoconference capacity of connecting the medic to have a live with patients”, he added.
Another striking aspect is the fact that these Robots can use elevators and navigate hallways to deliver food to a guest at quarentine hotels.
The Robots have been created by Kigali based Belgian Robotic tech Firm, Robotics and will be deployed throughout the Pandemic.
Though the cost of the project hasn’t been disclosed, it is supervised by the country’s Health Ministry and the Ministry of Information and Technology.
Rwanda has two main Coronavirus treatment centres and fourty eight (48) secondary treatment centres across the country.
So far, the country of Paul Kagame has registered 285 Covid-19 patients with 150 recoveries and no deaths.
