The Chief Executive Officer, CEO of one of the nation’s leading daily newspapers and media empire, Municipal Updates Media Group, Cham Victor Bama, has urged young Cameroonians to be consistent, resilient and humble if they dream of becoming entrepreneurs.
He was speaking yesterday, October 30, during this year’s SPARKAFRIK conference dubbed LEVEL UP underway in Yaounde.
The Municipal Updates CEO anchored his presentation on: “Making a Difference: Scaling Dreams”.
To him, achieving dreams depends on “your determination to be consistent, resilient, patient, selfless and humble in the process”. He discouraged the idea of get rich quick and showing off syndrome of young entrepreneurs.
Cham recounted his childhood story which he said inspired his dream of creating Municipal Updates Media Group. As early as 2002, “My grandmother taught me how to prepare corn beer commonly known as ‘sha’. It was a routine duty for us and I did it with passion and commitment,” he said.
He continued that, “every morning at 4 o’clock, we will fill containers of sha’ and transport them to the market, and after school, we will take stocked corn to the grinding mill before engaging the cooking process up till about 11pm. It was fun”.
The over 300 youths listened with rapt attention to the guiding motivational message of the Municipal Updates Media Group boss to enable them become outstanding young entrepreneurs.
The opening ceremony of the SPARKAFRIK conference had in attendance the United States ambassador to Cameroon, Christopher Lamora; and Canadian High Commissioner to Cameroon, Lorraine Anderson.
