Visiting military auditors ‘browse’ Camtel’s data protection services

Some high level military personnel, auditors of the 19th batch of auditors from the Yaounde International War College was at the Head Office of CAMTEL in Yaounde to acquaint themselves with measures taken by the telecom giant to secure personal data of individuals and institutions.

The management of personal data has become vital especially in the era of Artificial Intelligence. Within the security sector, it is even more challenging, and CAMTEL has become a strategic partner.

The visit of the auditors from the Yaounde International War College to Camtel was an occasion for the auditors to discover the different digital services of the telecom giant, especially those related to data protection.

They were 61 in number, auditors and interns from 25 different countries who visited CAMTEL’s head office in Yaounde.

The delegation was led by the Commander of the War College, Brigadier General Nka Valere.

They were received by the Deputy General Manager of CAMTEL, Danielle Desire Olle, representating the General Manager, Judith Yah Sunday Epse Achidi.

“It’s a privilege to contribute in upgrading your skills on the mastery of Artificial Intelligence tools such as personal data protection. At CAMTEL, we employ all measures to respect ethics in use of AI,” Danielle Desire Olle, said in his opening speech.

 “The company that welcomes you today is delighted that you are here. It is currently engaged in a vast process of development and transformation, both in managerial terms and in terms of the management of its customers and partners, including the defence forces,” 

During the visit, a presentation of CAMTEL’s digital prowess was made by the Head of Sales Department at Camtel, Mathilde Mouangue, and a presentation of CAMTEL’s Data protection mechanisms by the Director of the Data Centre in Zamangoue.

They both stressed on the fact that telecom has become a vital instrument of souvereignty, economy and security.

The presentation was in line with an international colloquium that held at the war College last May, 2024 on the theme “AI, threats or opportunities for Africa”.

Reacting to the presentation, the auditors thanked CAMTEL for paying special attention to data protection of individuals and institutions which is the most important aspects of security today.

In his statement, the commander of the War College thanked the incumbent telecom giant for edifying their knowledge with advanced digital services, dear to the security sector. He said the visit was within the framework of the “Leadership and Management” module of the Yaounde International War College.

“We are leaving here satisfied,” General Nka valere said.

The visit ended with an exchange of gifts between both institutions.
