The lifeless body of 40-year old man has been discovered along the shores of the Yaounde Municipal Lake, Monday August 31, 2020 within unclear circumstances.

The macabre discovery, News Upfront gleaned was found by some commuters who set out early morning that day in search of their daily bread.

No identification document was found at the site of the discovery.

According to witnesses’ accounts, the victim might have drowned and was brought to the surface by water currents.

However, following preliminary investigations by officials of the Melen gendarmerie brigade and those of the Yaounde 5th police station who descended to the scene, the victim could have been murdered.

The security sources indicated that he was probably killed and dumped in the lake by his torturers.

Some traces of violence were found on the remains of the unidentified man who was probably killed a day before.

The remains, we gathered were taken to the Yaounde Central hospital mortuary while investigation has been opened into suspicious death.

This is not the first time that a corpse has been found on the banks of the municipal lake with such unclear circumstances.

When it is not a case of suicide by drowning, it is the case of people killed and bodies thrown into the water body by strangers.

Last February, the corpses of two boys believed to be street children were reportedly retrieved from the lake located in the heart of the city.

According to reports, the two boys aged nine and fifteen had gone for a swimming venture before ending up drowning.
