As the country moves toward the October 12, 2025 presidential election, supporters of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) in Babessi Subdivision, Ngoketunjia Division in the Northwest Region are getting set to vote for their national party chairman, Paul Biya.

The town, which serves as the headquarters for Babessi Sub Division and comprises four villages—Babungo, Baba I, Bangolan, and Babessi—saw a campaign launch on October 7, 2025, where CPDM grassroots leaders outlined their plan to engage supporters ahead of the vote.

Leading voices at the rally included Nchechuma Banla, Director of Human Resources at the Douala Port Authority, who spoke alongside Mr Moh Sylvester, Prof Chenji Melo and other CPDM officials.

Campaign team members unveiled a strategy centred on informing voters about development projects and governance achievements, with emphasis on tarred roads, schools, and appointments of indigenes to prominent positions in government.

Speakers noted that these developments could influence voter preferences.

Nchechuma Banla highlighted what President Paul Biya has done for Babessi pledging more if the population votes for him.

Concrete achievements of Paul Biya in Babessi

As outlined by Mr Nchechuma, Paul Biya created BABESSI sub division with BABESSI as headquarters, raised the status of the hospital and sent doctors to work there.

He has also created 14 primary schools in BABESSI: (before him, there was just one), created 9 government secondary schools, tarred the BABESSI section of the Ring Road, paid compensation to BABESSI people three times for damages caused by the Bamenjim dam and personally invited a son of BABESSI to participate at the Grand National Dialogue just to cite a few.

Nchechuma Banla, the brain behind the CPDM in Babessi urged the population: “Don’t listen to adventurers and promoters of illusion. In tribute to our father Fon M.T NCHOFUA II and Pa S.K Nyoh, BABESSI PEOPLE should vote massively for Africa’s most celebrated Political guru and patriarche, PAUL BIYA bi MVONDO.
For us BABESSI PEOPLE as orphans, he is our surest umbrella”.

He further reiterated their goal of broad participation and discouraged any form of intimidation, highlighting the importance of a peaceful electoral process in the subdivision.

Babessi Subdivision comprises a mix of traditional authorities and local residents who have voiced appreciation for various development initiatives in the Sub Division.

Mr Nchechuma Banla argued that continued governance under the party could bring more public projects and appointments, while describing the SDF, UNDP, and UDC as less relevant in the current political landscape.

Security considerations and community safety were also on the agenda as Nchechuma Banla together with others acknowledged potential threats and underlined their commitment to maintaining a safe environment for voters.

The Director of Human Resources at the Douala Ports Authority apart from actively convincing the population at the launching of campaigns has also been pursuing outreach methods such as door-to-door canvassing, community meetings and even phone calls and messages to ensure broad awareness of the voting process.

As election day approaches, residents of Babessi are preparing to participate in Cameroon’s democratic process, with campaigns emphasizing gratitude for past projects and hopes for future development.
