Visiting military auditors ‘browse’ Camtel’s digital security services 

The 6th batch of auditors from the Higher School of Military Administration (ESAM), in the Democratic Republic of Congo visited the head office of Cameroon Telecommunications (Camtel) Monday July 10, 2023.

Digital services have become vital in the security sector, and Camtel has become a strategic partner. The visit of the 6th batch of auditors from the Higher School of Military Administration (ESAM) to Camtel was an occasion for the auditors to discover the different digital services of the telecom giant.

They were 42 in number, auditors and interns from five different countries who visited Camtel’s head office in Yaounde (Cameroon, Benin, Democratic Republic of Congo, Central Africa Republic and Burundi). The delegation was led by the Commander of ESAM, Elumba Monga Likumbu Ghislain Myriam Rogers. They was received by the technical adviser No. 1 at Camtel, Ottou Francis, representating the General Manager, Judith Yah Sunday Epse Achidi.

“The company that welcomes you today is delighted that you are here. It is currently engaged in a vast process of development and transformation, both in managerial terms and in terms of the management of its customers and partners, including the defence forces,” Ottou Francis said in his opening speech.

During the visit, a presentation of Camtel’s digital prowess was made by the Head of Marketing and Communication Department at Camtel, Stéphane Edimo, with focus on Cameroon’s geopolitical and security stakes in the telecom sector. He stressed on the fact that telecom has become a vital instrument of souvereignty, economy and security.

“Camtel is actually cooperating with the security sector in Cameroon, and we intend to extend the cooperation to other countries, Stéphane Edimo said.

The present cooperation is based on the two pillars of Camtel’s strategy: change management and customer centricity.

Reacting to the presentation, the auditors thanked Camtel for paying special attention to cyber security and cyber criminality which are the most important aspects of security today.

In his statement, the commander of ESAM, thanked the incumbent telecom giant for edifying their knowledge with advanced digital services, dear to the security sector.

“We are leaving here satisfied,” General Elumba Rogers said.

The visit to him was timely given that “the army uses two important pillars for the success of its operations, mobility and communication”.

Created in 2016, the Higher School of Military Administration (ESAM) aims to develop the professional and functional skills needed by the defence and security services in the fields of human resources, finance, budget and others.

The visit ended with an exchange of gifts between Camtel and ESAM.
