At least 4 people have died as supporters of ousted US President, Donald John Trump forced entry into the Capitol that was still in session.

One of them, a lady identified as a US Air force veteran, Ashli Babbitt, was shot by a police officer when the rioters intensified violence.

Three others according to reports died as a result of medical emergencies.

About14 members of the Metro Police Department have been injured with 2 admitted to hospital.

Faced with the situation, the mayor of Washington, issued an overnight curfew, and at press time, 52 people were arrested already from police sources.

Some were arrested for carrying pistols without licences, others for carrying prohibited weapons while many were apprehended for unlawful entry and violation of curfew order.

Two pipe bombs are reported to have been recovered not far from the Capitol building.

Out going US President, Donald John Trump, it should be noted is trying to reverse election results by all costs.

His close aides are signing off and their petitions are being rejected at the senate house.

After the perimeter of the Capitol building was breached, and innocent people killed, the Republican President tried to calm down the situation but it was too late.

The mayor of the US capital city, Muriel Bowser, has extended a public emergency for 15 days until after Inauguration Day.

Meanwhile police officers in riot gear continue to guard the streets of the Capitol.

Observers say it is the first time the world is witnessing such a situation in the USA, which to them is a blow to the country’s democracy.
