Christians of the Saint Luke Parish, Carriere have been urged to put God at the centre of their lives. His Grace, Jean Mbarga Metropolitan Archbishop of Yaoundé,on Sunday 22,made the call during the 35th anniversary celebration of Saint Luke Parish.

The highly attended eucharistic celebration, was graced by the presence of a mammouth crowd among, some local administrative authorities, traditional rulers and parishoners.As well as, the over 200 catechumens present for the reception, of the sacrament of confirmation.

Addressing the various communities,Mgr Jean Mbarga pointed out some obscure practices of the ancient tradition, such as the burial of a chief and his wives, were abandoned with the advent of Christianity.

These practices were rooted in antiquity, but through the revelation brought by Christianity, a new understanding of life and death emerged.

It is important to note that Archbishop Jean Mbarga invited the faithful to fully live their Christian faith while respecting and valuing their traditional values. He emphasized that the Christian faith provides an illuminating light that can guide and uplift all other facets of life.

Visiting Carriere for the 10th time, Mgr spoke about culture and language, by saying his visit to the Saint Luke Parish Carriere, is an opportunity to remind parishioners of the importance of not mixing traditional values ​​with the Christian faith. It is essential to understand that the Christian faith illuminates and transcends all aspects of our lives, guiding us to a deeper understanding of truth and divinity.

Before celebrating the highly animated pontifical mass at the premises of the Passionate Sisters Community located at the foot of Mont Messa, Mgr Jean Mbarga accompanied by the superior of the Sisters Community, the Parish Priest,visited the Saint Claire Primary School, the Convent and had an aperçu of the ongoing construction site of a health facility, aim at ameliorating the health condition of the inhabitants of her environs and without.

Located at the heart of Yaounde 2,the Saint Luke Parish was created in 1988,by Mgr Jean Zoa of blessed memory.Placed under the Congregation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (CICM), the parishioners have made giant strides towards the church’s development. The Parish can boost of about 5000 faithfuls, constituting the four communities.
