The North region of Cameroon has thrown its weight behind President Paul Biya’s potential candidacy in the upcoming presidential election.
During a visit by Prime Minister Dion Ngute, the region’s population expressed their support through placards, speeches, and songs, declaring Biya as their sole candidate.
“We stand united behind President Biya, and we believe he is the best person to lead Cameroon forward,” said a local resident, echoing the sentiments of many in the region.
The PM’s visit was part of a working trip to the region, where he inaugurated the industrial cement production plant in Figuil.
This project is one of several initiatives undertaken by President Biya as part of his development plan for the region.
“President Biya’s vision for Cameroon is clear, and his commitment to development is evident in projects like this cement plant,” PM Dion Ngute said during the inauguration ceremony.
The show of support from the North region highlights the ongoing political activities in the country as the 2025 presidential election approaches. It remains to be seen how this declaration will impact the broader political landscape.
