The grand mother has petition the state prosecutor of Yokadouma for justice to take it’s course
Madam Meye Evina epse Loumou Laurentine is presently under intensive treatment at a tradi-practitioner’s place in Moloundou.
She had spent two days in the Moloundou District Hospital but was forced to leave for lack of finances.
According to her medical report, she is suffering from dislocation at her right ribs.
She says she was brutalized and mercilessly pushed down by the Commander of the Moloundou Brigade, MAMATE Jonas.
In the process, she fell on the derking of a tap where she went to fetch water.
According to a complaint tabled to the state prosecutor in Yokadouma, the incident took place on April 17, 2020.
It all started that faithful morning when the grand mother, 73 years old went to fetch water from the tap in front of the Moloundou Gendarmerie Brigade.
Once at the tap waiting for her turn to carry, she was joined by the wife of the Brigade Commander who equally came to fetch water.
The old woman recounts that as her turn reached, the wife of the commander bypassed her pushing off her containers from the tap.
It was when she tried to question the act that both pick up a quarrel which degenerated into tribal accusations.
The grand mother, it should be noted is a pygmy from Moloundou while her adversary is from the Far North region of the country same as her husband.
The wife of the commander reports say went as far as declaring publicly that no person except her, would ever carry water from the tap because it belongs to the Brigade and not to the population.
A statement that shocked even onlookers who wondered whether the wife was herself a Gendarme Officer by simple getting married to a commander.
The voices drew the attention of the Brigade Commander who was watching from a distance.
Madam Meye says she was shocked when the commander approached them and did not care to find out what’s wrong but rather seized her hand dragging her towards the Brigade.
She resisted when the commander threatened to lock her up in the cell and in the process, the commander pushed her backwards.
She then landed on the derking of the tap and later found herself in the hospital.
The septuagenarian it should be noted lives only with her grand children and no one to send on errands, reasons for her constant fetching of water whenever their home tap runs dry as was the case.
By deciding to table a complaint to the state prosecutor, the helpless grand mother who believes no one is above the law in Cameroon only wants justice to prevail.
To her, acts like this likened to abuse of power should never happened in the village again.
The people of Moloundou, she says are lovers of peace and respect President Paul Biya’s call for living together in a one and indivisible Cameroon.
All attempts by News Upfront to get the version of facts of Commander MAMATE Jonas proved futile.
News Upfront however caught up with the Mayor of the Moloundou Council, Allo Jean Richard who equally is shocked with the actions of the Brigade Commander.
Sources say commander MAMATE Jonas, from the Far North region of Cameroon is not in his first act of torture in the village.
Denizens in the area say he is noted for harrasing the population and even local authorities.
Detainees, they say pass up to ten (10) days in the Brigade cells without food nor visits except when they pay financially.
There are fears that the population of Moloundou could retaliate in the days ahead of nothing is done given the tensed nature of the affair.
The youths of Moloundou are also noted for counter attacks when their interests are at stake.
Recently it was reported how the angry population sequestrated a Divisional Officer (House arrest) in the locality for abusing power.
