The Second Deputy Mayor of Ndop Council, in Ngoketunjia Division, Northwest Region has regain his freedom after escaping from captivity.
Mr. Chombong Joseph who was allegedly kidnapped by Separatist fighters, sneaked out from captivity in the night of Monday May 18.
According to a Bamenda based news site, Promo Info, family sources have confirmed the payment of the sum of 2.4 million Frs CFA as ransom, though his abductors refuse liberating him.
For security reasons, the family have refused disclosing the whereabout of the Deputy Mayor.
News Upfront also gathered that, three others including 2 family members and a popular photographer who were kidnapped along with the mayor, are still in captivity in an unknown location.
The hostages identified as Fabrice, Muzu, Bertine (photographer) and Mr Chombong, were ransacked on Friday May 15 at Government School Bamali. The family were in a funeral convoy to bury their deceased mother.
