A delegation from the Non-Governmental organization, EMMI Empire Cameroon, led by its founder, Dr Erise Mary Dinga, actively participated in the deliberations of the International Municipal BRICS Forum in Moscow that held from the 27th through the 28th of August 2024.
Their participation followed an invitation from the organizers of the International Municipal BRICS Forum in Moscow to the EMMI Empire Cameroon.
“It was an honor for me and my fellow representatives from the Emmi Empire to have been selected to attend the 6th BRICS International Municipal Forum in Moscow. It was an incredible experience, and I was deeply impressed by the scale and scope of this event, which served as a powerful platform for fostering collaboration and innovation among BRICS nations,” Dr. Erise Mary Dinga said.
“I am here at the BRICS because I feel like this is a nice place for networking, for business and leadership connections.”
The event was attended by about 700 speakers and 5000 delegates from more than 120 countries. More than 50,000 viewers followed the event online.
The Forum’s comprehensive program featured over 70 business events and a large-scale exposition, with a dynamic space for sharing ideas, best practices, and solutions for sustainable urban development.
The discussions were particularly insightful covering 13 areas of work. Participants delved into crucial areas such as: boosting trade and investment, harnessing technology, addressing Global Challenges, with a commitment to sustainable urban development. Special emphasis was placed on green technologies and the determination to create more sustainable and livable cities.
“The 6th BRICS International Municipal Forum was truly a catalyst for progress and a testament to the power of collaboration. I am confident that the ideas and initiatives discussed here will continue to shape the future of our cities in the years to come,: says Dr. Erise Mary Dinga
One of the objectives of the forum was to transform the economies of the world and according to Dinga George, from the Cameroonian delegation; Africa has a big role to play.
“The BRICS countries are already advanced nations who have the technology and the skills. I think we have a lot to learn and benefit from them,” he said.
The event was a major step forward in collective efforts to build a more sustainable and equitable future for cities across the world.
The exchange of knowledge and experiences between BRICS nations and partner nations combined with the focus on innovative solutions will undoubtedly have a significant positive impact on urban development especially in Cameroon.
Among the delegation from Cameroon was the board chairperson of UNVDA, Dr. Nwana Sama Bernard who said the forum was very timely. “It should be repeated often, we exchanged with experts and international partners who will likely work with us. I am taking home a package that should be used to increase and develop our rice production,” Dr, Nwana Sama Bernard said.
“As a municipal councilor, we shall be glad to boost and modernize our garbage and waste recycling sector thanks to this forum,” says Dr. Fuli Julius, participant from the Cameroon delegation.
