CAMTEL illuminates Wimbum Sports, Cultural Jamboree

The maiden edition of the Wimbum Sports and Cultural Jamboree, drew it's curtains on December 3, in Bafoussam, thanks to the most illuminary participation of the Cameroon Telecommunications company, CAMTEL.

The sports and cultural ceremony was chaired by the General President of WICUDA, Apostle Rogers Nforgwei, alongside traditional authorities all the way from Nkambe, the West Regional head for CAMTEL, officials from Anafoot and the Under -17 national head trainer.

Over three thousand Wimbum sons and daughters gathered at the Bamendzi Stadium, to watch the sensational football finals pitting Carrefour FC of Nkambe against KFusa FC of Bamenda

The highly watched and animated football finals ended on a 6-5 score, in favor of the Carrefour FC boys of Nkambe, following a tie-breaking penalty shootout.

CAMTEL’s participation was marked by a special decorum, of the Bamendzi Stadium via her multiple blue banners and proximity exhibition stands erected on every corners of the pitch.

CAMTEL’s kind gesture was remarkable and highly applauded by many, as over three hundred blue gadgets and sim cards were distributed to the mammoth crowd, who turn out at the Bamendzi stadium.

Adding to that, was the sum of three million francs CFA donated,by the incumbent lead Telecommunications company, for the success of the event.

The wonderful gesture from CAMTEL, gave the opportunity for the overzealous fans, vested in blue t-shirts to chant songs of praise for the kind and remarkable gifts from the lead State telecom supremo.

 

Speaking to the press, The General President of WICUDA said ;

“We are very happy for the quality of the game,marking the end of the Wimbum sports and cultural Jamboree. We have spotted good players especially those from the village.”

“We count on the support of our partners Anafoot present and the head trainer for the Under -17 national youth team, to help build a good career for the young players,” he said.

The event was an ideal platform to compensate, the best Wimbum artists out of the 31 present. As well as award special prizes to the best cultural dance groups among the seven.

“The objective of the event was to keep away the youths from idleness and trouble.Reason why, we took advantage of the grand Championship to have a one-on-one talk with many of these youths”.

“We advice them on the importance of developing their minds and giving value to themselves. As well as, telling them to have hope, faith and believe in themselves, for he who has hopes can live”.

“I can’t end with out saying a big thank you to CAMTEL for the magnificent support. But like Oliver Twist, we long for more. I equally want to extend my sincere gratitude to the incredible members of the organizing committee for their resilience and sacrifice”, he ended.

Apart from communing around sports, the entire Wimbum community present in Bafoussam, were offered a gigantic cultural gala night, dubbed “Ndee Rlad,” at the Bafoussam City Council premises, where the Wimbum culture was on spotlight in music, culinary arts and arts and craft.

Ajah Enongene, West Region Head for CAMTEL, facing pressers said “we are glad for the wonderful partnership existing between the Cameroon Telecommunications, CAMTEL and WICUDA. Indeed it was a magnificent evening with lots exciting moments. We are glad and will keep the collaboration. And pray it keeps growing for a better tomorrow”.

Kfusa FC of Douala

3. Best Player of the tournament=
Adamu Malvin of Carrefour FC

4. Highest Goal Scorer= Yinyu Abdurahaman of Kfusa FC (5goals)

5. Best Goalkeeper of of the tournament = Mbuli Bernard of Carrefour FC of Nkambe

6. Youngest player of the tournament = Nfor Yispel of City Birds FC of Buea

7. Man of the match (finals) Tata Valentine of Carrefour FC of Nkambe.

8. Best traditional dance group = Reformation Kup of Nkambe

9. Best Traditional designer= Njamshie Yvette from Nkambe

10. Best Modern designer= Yerim’s fashion from Limbe ( Southwest Pool)

11. Art and Craft = Awo Gerard from Nkambe

12. Cultural/Religious music= Mimido from Buea ( Southwest pool)

13. Postmodern music( RnB/HipHop)= Jesse Chris

14. Ethics/Morality = Mr Age from Douala Pool

15. Comedy = Eziano DC from Bamenda Pool.

16. Best overall female artist= Precious Light from Bafoussam ( West pool)

17. Best overall male artist = VINO from Bamenda Pool.

18. Miss Wicuda General 2023= Miss Talla Stella from Yaounde branch

19. 1st Dauphin = Miss Shei Scarlet from Ndu Pool

20. 2nd Dauphin = Miss Shey Kelly from Southwest Pool

21. Master Wicuda General 2023 = Tata Godknows from Bafoussam ( West pool).
