The National Civil Status Registration Office (BUNEC), and the Network of Journalists for the Promotion of Local Development (REJODDEL) have resolved to work hand in glove for the interest of an inclusive, integrated and sustainable civil status registration system.

The resolution was taken Monday July 12, 2021 in Yaoundé during a working session between the two structures.

The session took place at the conference room of BUNEC and was chaired by its General Manager, Alexandre Marie YOMO.

“I have accepted to work with REJODDEL, to upgrade and further sensitize the public on our missions and visions. I have placed at the disposal of the journalist network, a focal person in my service with whom they will work together in the exercise of the joint mission. Today was just an introductory meeting and we hope we shall have the right occassions to jointly work out the roadmap of our partnership” The GM told reporters at the end of the working session.

The President of the network, Demetrio Wouassom, expressed satisfaction with the new deal hoping to see brighter days in the future.

Importance of Civil Status Certificates

The importance of Civil Status certificates cannot be over emphasized, especially in Cameroon, a country of law.

Birth Certificates guarantee access to Identity, Nationality and basic social services.

The Marriage Certificate is a legal proof of the union between spouses.

The Death Certificate on it’s part makes it possible to perpetuate the family patrimony and to improve governance.
