The long awaited Diocesan reshuffle at the Diocese of Buea, has finally been made by the Apostolic Administrator, His Lordship Bishop Michael Bibi.
In a pastoral letter issued on Friday, May 29, 2020, addressed to the entire catholic community of the Diocese, His Lordship appointed and transferred priests and deacons to various post of responsibility for the 2020/2021 pastoral year.
At the Bishop’s House; Fr. Emmanuel Epie from Christ the king Parish in Tiko, was promoted to a double function as Chancellor and Curate at Mekongi; Bishop Emeritus, Emmanuel Bushu goes on retirement while Fr. Christian Elumbat maintains functions as Finance Administrator and Curate of Regina Pacis Cathedral.
The Deans of the 5 Deanaries within the Diocese appointed were: Fr. Engelbert Ofon, Buea; Fr. Emmanuel Ngomba, Tiko; Fr. McGrace Emeka, Muyuka; Ernest Ensah, Limbe; Fr. James Kang, Muea.
Sixty-Six (66) Priests were appointed as Deacons, curates and parish priests across the 39 parishes that span through Fako Division, Southwest region.
Fr. Michael Mbuwir retains his post as Catholic Education Secretary and Director of Divine Mercy Radio and Television Services.
34 Priests have also been placed on Studies, Missions and Sabbaticals; 18 Priests sent abroad.
Except for its Principal, Fr. Pascal Siben who was named, appointments at the Catholic University Institute of Buea remain pending.
According to the May 29 Appointment letter, the appointments and transfers take effect from June 16; meanwhile, handovers are expected to be completed by June 28, 2020.
Amidst the Coronavirus Pandemic and other Socio-Political crisis, His Lordship has saluted the efforts of the Priests for their sacrifices to the population.
It should be noted that this is the first reshuffle of Priests and Deacons of the Diocese of Buea, since the Papal appointment of Bishop Michael Bibi as Apostolic Administrator of the said Diocese on December 28, 2019.
