The patient who was in isolation at the Yaounde Central Hospital was the 3rd registered case who arrived the country on March 07 2020 from Italy.
According to the Minister of Public Health, Dr. Manaouda Malachie who made the announcement, the Covid-19 patient was in an advanced state of infection upon arrival in Yaounde.
The announcement from the minister comes to clear doubts on many minds as they were expecting a statement from government to clarify allegations that a patient who died at the Laquintinie Hospital in Douala was suffering from Corona Virus.
Minister Manaouda Malachie in a tweet that announced the death, praised Cameroonian medical staff for their relentless efforts in taking care of Civid-19 victims.
At press time, the number of infected and comfimed cases in Cameroon was 66.
Cameroonians are anxiously waiting for further measures to curb the spread of the virus with many talking already of a general lockdown through out the national territory.
Another crisis meeting grouping government ministers took place Tuesday, March 24 at the prime Ministers office (Star Building) and focus was to evaluate the 13 points measures ordered by President Paul Biya for a period of 15 days.
