The North and Adamawa Regions have each recorded first cases of the CoronaVirus over a month of its presence in the country.
In a communique signed last April 18, 2020 by North Regional Governor, Jean Abate Eddy the first case was recorded in the town of Guider in Mayo-Louti Division.
Meanwhile, that of Adamawa Region was confirmed in the town of Ngaoundere same April 18 during the daily press briefing by the Ministry of Public Health.
Both regions are the latest to contract the virus after East, Southwest, South, Littoral and Centre regions.
Though the figures of total cases recorded national cannot be exacted, it is estimated at slightly above 1,017
In a tweet, Health Minister Dr Manaouda Malachie announced a total of 42 deaths and 305 patients recovered.
“We must reinforce the observance of the barrier measures decreed and especially wearing of masks. Let’s protect ourselves, protect others! Let’s be responsible” Dr Manaouda pleaded.
Faced with the current pandemic, the government through the Ministry of Public Health has resulted in daily action strategies to multiply interventions in order to control the evolution of the disease.
The Centre Pasteur in Yaounde and it annex in Garoua as well as Laquintini Hospital in Douala were the initial test centres for the virus untill recently that 13 more laboratories nationwide were authorised to test patients for Covid-19
