PM Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute made the call in Buea on August 12, where he presided over the 5th Committee Meeting on the follow-up of recommendations of the Major National Dialogue.

The 5th Committee Meeting focused on developing a new roadmap to follow in order to revive the Northwest and Southwest economically.

In this light, the PM said separatist fighters who are still actively fighting against government forces, should follow the example of some others who have dropped their arms.

He urged them to drop their guns and accompany other stakeholders to economically revive the region and prevent jobs from leaving for other areas.

“Let those boys who are still in the bushes and giving trouble, leave the bushes”, the PM said, furthering that with peace and tranquillity, the economy of the two regions will recover at a fast pace and youths as well as companies who are operating in the regions will remain to develop it, instead of migrating to other regions and African countries.

Going by recent government data, as of now, there are over 301 and 284 ex-fighters in the DDR centres in Bamenda and Buea, respectively. In Bamenda there are 204 men, 63 women and 34 children. In Buea, there are 256 men, 21 women and 07 children.
