Officials of the University of Buea have announced that the newly created departments and unit are set to go Operational soon
The Council of the University of Buea has endorsed the creation of the following five departments and one unit:
Faculty of Engineering & Technology
– Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering
– Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering
– Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering
Faculty of Social and Management Sciences
– Department of Accounting
Faculty of Education
– Department of Library, Archival and Information Sciences
Faculty of Science
– Unit of Disaster Risk Management
The members of Council were satisfied with the mission statement, the vision and the rationale of these new academic structures.
They were equally satisfied with the projected infrastructures, laboratories, staff strength and the partners to be brought on board for the effective take-off of each of these new departments.
News Upfront gathered that an official announcement to launch admission into these departments would be published in the days ahead.
The creation of these new departments is good news to some parents and students.
“My child failed to do accounting in the university because of the high school fees in private Institutions, but if the tuition in the University of Buea is favourable, then I think it will help many others” a parent told News Upfront.
