Huawei Donates to Fight Covid-19, Promote ICT in Cameroon

The world’s giant Telecommunications company made an important donation to the Government of Cameroon Friday October 16, 2020 to support the fight against the spread of the epidemic in the country.

The ceremony to hand over the consignment was at the star building in Yaounde.

It was during an audience granted to the President of Huawei for North Africa, Mr. CAO JIBIN by Cameroons premier, Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute.

Mr. CAO JIBIN praised Government’s efforts in handling the pandemic by protecting citizens and the Huawei community in the country.

“As a strategic partner to the Government of Cameroon, we feel it’s our social responsibility to show our care and continuous solidarity to the Government of Cameroon” He told News Upfront.

According to the scribe of Huawei, the donations to the Government of Cameroon will go a long way to help stabilize the situation of the pandemic in the country as well as prevent any further infection.

It is not the first time that Huawei is assisting the government.

After the outbreak of Coronavirus in Cameroon, Huawei donated medical supplies to many Institutions and communities, and also donated videoconferencing equipments to the Ministry of Public Health, Ministry of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Ministry of Water and Energy among others.

Besides assisting Cameroon in the fight against Covid-19, Friday’s audience at the Star Building saw an important announcement from the Huawei Boss.

“We hope to help Cameroon cultivate more ICT talents in the coming years. In this regard and on behalf of Huawei, we also donated 2000 free training opportunities in ICT for Cameroonian youths.” Mr. CAO JIBIN declared.

The training falls within the framework of the company’s ICT Academy Project, and would be executed in partnership with Universities and Institutions in Cameroon.

Huawei’s Long Term Commitment in Cameroon…

The world’s giant Telecommunications company is deeply concerned with Cameroon’s aspiration to realize the great vision of an emergent nation by 2035.

The company is doing all to promote digital transformation of the public and private sectors in the country through what they term “In Cameroon, For Cameroon”.

The Telecom Company, Huawei is determined to continue to leverage technology, innovation and talent cultivation to drive local development industries.

“We have always seen ourselves as a local company, operating locally, purchasing from local suppliers, employing local staff and paying taxes” the president for North Africa declared adding that;

“Huawei will do it’s best to help Cameroon realize it’s digital strategy”

On the part of the Government, the Prime Minister and Head of Government, Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute did not hesitate to praise Huawei for her relentless efforts in standing by the Government.

The Covid-19 consignment and training offers he said are timely and is proof of the rich cooperation between Cameroon and Huawei in particular, and with the People’s Republic of China in general.
