They were received by Center regional governor, Naseri Paul Bea.

The ceremony took place at the governor’s office Friday, September 18, 2020.

Carrying along the Cameroon flag as a show of patriotism, representatives of the riders and hawkers handed over a memo to the governor indicating their position concerning the announced protests.

They did not only distance themselves from the planned protest, but equally promised to foil any move aimed at attacking state institutions and the Head of State.

Governor Naseri Paul Bea lauded the initiative from the riders and hawkers saying it’s a show of republican and patriotic values.

Few days to the planned nationwide street protest, actors from various sectors of activities are multiplying efforts to neutralise it.

Recently, it was bike riders of the Wouri Division who staged a similar move throwing their support behind the president of the Republic.

Civil society activists, trade unions and political parties are equally mobilizing and sensitising the public against the protests.

The government is also not leaving any stone unturned.

Security forces are gradually being stationed in some major roundabouts across the nation’s political and economic capitals, just in case.

Prof. Maurice Kamto and his team are absent from public debates, and it is alleged they are working backstage towards the protests.

It should be noted that Minister Paul Atanga Nji has ordered that anyone caught inviting people to protest come Tuesday September 22, or seen demonstrating illegally should be arrested and detained.
