Story, Louvier Kindo Tombe
For his unwavering commitment to public administration, civil peace, and community mobilization amid years of complex security challenges, Mr. Besinga Ely Itone (Beinga Ely Itone), Divisional Officer (DO) of Eyumojock Sub-Division, has been decorated with the prestigious G2G Courageous Men’s Prize for Nation Building.
The international award and humanitarian medal is a recognition initiated by the Grass 2 Grace Humanitarian Organisation (G2G) and endorsed by CISRI-Cameroon, a United Nations Permanent Observatory Mission’s Goodwill Ambassador. It is in its 6th season and recognizes extraordinary public figures whose courage makes a tangible difference in high-stakes environments. A high-level G2G delegation, led by the Vision Bearer of the tribute concept, HRH Thomas A. Fotang, traveled directly to the Sub-Divisional Office in Eyumojock, Manyu Division, to officially confer the honor upon the administrator.
Serving as the state’s chief representative in Eyumojock—a strategic sub-division encompassing 66 villages and sharing a key international frontier with Nigeria—presents unique administrative demands. Throughout his tenure, DO Besinga Ely Itone has stood as a steadfast pillar of government continuity, civil stability, and community trust.
The G2G recognition highlights his exceptional leadership in coordinating peace initiatives, maintaining civil administration, and strengthening civil-military collaboration across border communities like Ekok. His administrative drive has been instrumental in encouraging the return of displaced residents, advocating for the full resumption of effective schooling across local villages, and leveraging national platforms like Youth Day and National Day to inspire civic pride and local resilience.
Presenting the award, HRH Thomas A. Fotang emphasized that the Eyumojock mission sent a clear message: patriotism, sacrifice, and administrative fortitude deserve global celebration, especially when demonstrated on the front lines of public service. By sustaining state presence, promoting peaceful cross-border relations, and advocating for the restoration of normal life across Manyu Division, Mr. Besinga Ely Itone continues to embody exemplary governance under pressure.
G2G: Celebrating those who make change happen.
