The 2020 edition of the social responsibility programme of Huawei aimed at developing ICT skills amongst Cameroonian youths have been Launched.
The launching took place Friday October 9, at the Djeuga Palace Hotel in Yaounde.
Top Government Officials led by Prime Minister and Head of Government, Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute, were present alongside scribes of the Chinese Telecom Company, Huawei.
The “Seeds For The Future” programme is an initiative from Huawei, to train Cameroonian youths on how to better bridge the digital gap on the country.
It provides opportunities for young Cameroonians, passionate for the Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The youths are usually drawn from higher Institutions of learning within the framework of the ICT Academy.
Launched in 2016, the programme has always seen 10 ICT students travel to China for the training.
This year, they are 40 Cameroonian youths, lovers of ICT who are been trained.
They are receiving the training online due to the health challenges linked to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Speaking at the launching Friday, October 9, 2020, the Vice President for Public Relations at Huawei, Loise Tamalgo presented the objectives of the initiative.
“The vision of Huawei is to provide digital services to everyone, every family and every organisation, to develop a smart world where everything is connected” he said.
On his part, Cameroon’s Premier, Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute saluted the efforts of Huawei in the digital sector in Cameroon.
“It is going to be thanks to fruitful initiatives like what Huawei is doing for Cameroon that the country will achieve it’s goals of becoming an emergent nation by 2035” he declared.
The “Seeds For The Future” programme is operating in over 100 countries in the world, and has trained over 30.000 candidates.

Huawei is the world’s giant Telecommunications company operating in 180 countries across the globe.
They have sealed digital partnership deals with over 70 Heads of States.
The Chinese company planted it’s seed in Cameroon in 2005.
Since then, through their corporate social responsibilities, they have succeeded in moulding young Cameroonians to become ICT experts.
