The pioneer Regional Executive Bureau members of the North West Regional Assembly are now set to deliver their services for the interest of the entire region.

They were installed into their functions Friday January 22, 2021 by North West Governor, Adolphe Lele L’Afrique.

While installing the 8 man bureau headed by 66 year old Urologist, Prof Fru Angwafor III, the Governor reminded them of their mission.

The Regional Executive Bureau members are expected to revitalize the economic situation of the region, hit by crisis for four years running.

“You are the right persons coming at the right moment to resolve the challenges of the region, and bring it back to the time before 2016” Governor Lele L’Afrique said.

The economic situation in the region is not the best, but the pioneer Commissioner for Economic Development in the bureau, Ghejung Awunti, is optimistic that with the support from other bureau members and the population at large, they shall deliver.

In his 35 minutes inaugural speech, the president of the bureau said, the North West region will never be the same again since solutions to problems of the region will come from the region, not from the central Government in Yaounde as has always been the case.

“For our region to shine, we should not look at what animated the past, but rather focus in what will animate the future,” Prof. Fru Angwafor III declared.

News Upfront gathered that the slogan of the NW Regional Executive Bureau is “Me na you, you na me, we na we” indicating that ‘Northwesterners’ are one despite their differences.

The Regional Assembly

The North West Regional Assembly is special in the sense that it has a bi-camera house.

The Regional Council made up of 70 Divisional Representatives and the house of Chiefs with 20 representatives of Traditional Rulers.

They are elected for a mandate of 5 years.

According to the General Code of Regional and Local Authorities, the President of the Regional Executive Bureau shall be the Chief Executive of the region.

He shall convene the Regional Assembly, consisting of seasoned personalities who have distinguished themselves in their respective fields of competence.
