The Cameroon Football Federation, FECAFOOT has set the date for the new football season to kick off in the country.
According to a release form the Federation signed Friday October 06, 2020, the new season shall kick on Tuesday October 10, 2020.
The release did not specify where the opening ceremony shall take place.
Even the teams to play the opening game were not disclosed by FECAFOOT two days to the game.
The release from FECAFOOT is coming after the executive committee of the federation withdrew the rights to organize professional football in Cameroon from the Professional Football League, LFPC.
FECAFOOT backs up the decision with facts that LFPC has faulted in many ways coupled with a recent decision from some of its clubs to dissolve the organization.
The president of the Cameroon Professional Football League, General Pierre Semengue has countered the decision from FECAFOOT.
He has mandated a lawyer to represent the league in court, precisely at the conciliation and arbitration chamber of the National Olympic and Sports Committee.
To the General, The Cameroon Football Federation is taking sides with the dissident faction of the league.
In a recent correspondence addressed to FECAFOOT, General Pierre Semengue indicated that he has invited the National Olympic and Sports Committee to intervene and resolve the present football crisis in the country.
With the announcement of the start of the new sports season, many question whether the government through the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education would authorize FECAFOOT to use state’s stadia.
The Ministry, it should be noted had earlier handed over the stadia to the Cameroon Professional Football League for use this 2020/2021 football season.
