Over a hundred Internally Displaced Persons in Douala received didactic materials from the organization as they resume classes for the 2020/2021 academic year.
The ceremony took place at Atlanta Bilingual Comprehensive School Complex, Bonaberi in the Douala IV Sub Division.
It is not the first time the Grass 2 Grace humanitarian foundation is assisting pupils and students.
But the event this year was very particular.
Besides school bags, books, and other didactic materials, the foundation provided anti Covid-19 kits to the children.
The beneficiaries were selected from across the four corners of Douala.
The Chief Executive Officer, CEO of the foundation who is promoter of the initiative, HM Thomas A. FOTANG, AKA Pa Tom, delivered a strong message as he handed over the school kits.
“It is not the quantity of gifts that matter, but the sincerity of the heart of the giver” he said.
Pa Tom made allusion to the famous educational quote of Nelson Mandela “Education is a powerful weapon that can be used to change the world” as he addressed the children.
“You are out of your regions and homes, but you are not alone, be confident and study well for it’s your future you are building” Pa Tom told the beneficiaries.
Thomas Ayuk seized the opportunity to thank all those who supported the initiative in one way or the other.
The patron of the initiative, Mr. Engwenyi Collins (Deemah Dollah) together with the promoter encouraged parents of the children to remain prayerful for no situation is permanent.
To spice the handing over ceremony, a Cameroonian celebrated Artist from the US, Chili Wawayee gave hope to the children through her musical displays.
At the end of the ceremony, Pa Tom announced further similar events in the future.
“Our mission is to assist the needy and vulnerable, and we are not going to stop so far as they live” he concluded.
The Grass 2 Grace Foundation, (G2G) it should be noted has been very active in providing humanitarian assistance to orphanages in the town of Douala and beyond.
