Faced with Covid-19, the National Director of the Cameroon Baptist Convention Youths and Student Department, CBCYSD, Rev. Ghamogha Cosmas has called on the youths at all levels across CBC churches, to put their creativity to task, in different areas of command.
This he says should be by adopting new contextually relevant ways of achieving evangelistic goals without disrespecting any of the prescribed measures put in place by the government to contain the spread of the deadly virus.
Youths of the Cameroon Baptist Convention, CBC were supposed to have their Youth Evangelism week from Monday April 13 to Friday April 17 and to culminate in a Youth Evangelism Sunday across Cameroon but with the current pandemic, it is not business as usual.
During such periods, members of the CBCYSD are often engage in both indoor and outdoor activities like street-evangelism, community services and trainings for physical and spiritual growth in the body of Christ.
In a letter issued last April 10, he urged the youths to make effective use of their social media networks. “If you can go by social media, set goals and targets of person to reach and do evaluation of the approach.
These and other ways should enhance your creativity and contextualization” he stated.
Another means for the youths to devise in winning souls is to “go face to face using face mask and if you’re viable purchase some face masks and share to those who can’t afford, then share Christ with them.
While reiterating that the Coronavirus is not something to joke with but a reality, he enjoined the youths to strictly follow the measures prescribed by the World Health Organisation, the Cameroon government and the CBC authorities.
“While respecting these measures, let’s deepen our trust in God who is the giver and taker of life, the Lord Jesus who freely gave His life on the cross, resurrected from the dead on the third day and is ready to save everyone who believes and depends on him for salvation” said Rev. Ghamogha.
