The Minister of Post and Telecommunication, Minette Libom Li Likeng is satisfied with work done by camtel’s management in rendering the center operational.
It was a happy Minister of Post and Telecommunication who addressed the press Friday July 10, 2020 in Zamengoe, Okola Sub Division, Lekie Division of the Centre region after visiting the various infrastructure and installations hosting the Data Center.
“I have just realized that the Data Center gives to our country the possibility to satisfy all the requirements of digital operators in Cameroon in terms of stocking their private datas” the Minister said.
The operationalization of the Camtel Data Center is a plus to the nation according to the boss of Minpostel, Minette Libom Li Likeng.
“As a nation, if you keep your data abroad, you will lose your souvereignty… so I am very glad that today our historic Telecom operator has a very strong data center” she declared.
The Minister enjoined Camtel’s management to immediately take over total control of the centre, transform it into a veritable hosting opportunity to serve the grand demand of entities that generates or use data.
She seized the occasion to encourage national and foreign operators to develop contents in the country for they shall be well secured at the Data Center.
The Data Vision
Cameroon has invested a whole lot in digital economy and it is but normal for the government to multiple efforts in views of achieving the set goals.
Cameroon Telecommunications, Camtel, is at the center of the achievements.
The General Manager of Camtel, Madam Judith Yah Sunday has been working resolutely with her collaborators to translate the digital transformation vision into reality.
The construction of the Zamengoe Data Center which falls within this new digitalisation framework is just one of the many achievements in that light.
Speaking during the visit, Madam Judith Yah Sunday, thanked the Minister of Post and Telecommunications for her relentless support and that of the entire government in helping Camtel achieve her objectives.
The Data Center
Constructed on a surface area of 3019 m2, the Zamengoe Data Center is made up of five (5) buildings.
It is one of the biggest and modern in the country and the sub region at large.
The center is a veritable site for numeric archives management through the collection, storage, processing, distribution and provision of access to a large amount of data.
The importance of the center cannot be over emphasized since it does not only stores but secures data and numeric contents from divers operators.
It incorporates sophiscated and automatic energy supply systems, a 400m2 saver room with a capacity of 5 cubes, surveillance cameras, fire detection system and a supervision hall of 8 working positions.
The Camtel Data Center in Zamengoe is already operational and a good number of operators have already secured spaces there, with much still available.
She is a hard-working woman in an evil system. Let us hope her hard work can successfully put new wine into old skins.
