The Electoral Board, headed by Enow Abrams Egbe, has made an exhaustive assessment and account of the just-ended poll and drawn up lessons they learned from the entire electoral process of the March 22 poll.
The Chairperson of the elections governing body, Elections Cameroon, ELECAM, and President of the Electoral Board, Enow Abrams Egbe, presided over the second session as of right of the electoral board relating to the legislative election re-run via a video conference, March 27, in Yaounde.
“The present session as of right of the Electoral Board follows the holding of by-elections in certain electoral constituencies, [in the Northwest and Southwest Regions] and it takes place in a particular context, when our country is facing the threat of the COVIOD-19 epidemic, which obviously requires maximum precautions…,” said Enow Abrams Egbe.
In this light, he expressed gratitude to the Information Technology Department of the elections governing body for rendering their deliberations possible via an online video conference. This therefore goes in line with prescriptions from the government to limit the spread of the fatal coronavirus.
Also, he hailed political parties, media practitioners, election observers, voters as well as the team of Elections Cameroon for the successful organisation, conduct and supervision of the said elections in spite of some incidents recorded.
According to Enow Abrams Egbe, the various parties involved in the election re-run demonstrated the spirit of patriotism and citizenship in the midst of challenges and difficulties faced along the way. “The defense and security forces were present and they performed their duties with commitment and honour,” he said.
