An initiative dubbed Tiko Got Talent has been hailed for giving exposure to talented youths from Tiko subdivision and its environs.
The annual talent show organised by the Mukoko’s Hope Foundation held recently at the Tiko council chamber.
The event was co-chaired by the 3rd deputy Mayor of Tiko, Ngomba Hermina and the representative of the South West Regional Delegate of Arts and Culture.
The representative of the Mayor of Tiko lauded the initiative describing it as “timely”.
She also assured them of the council’s continuous support for the initiative and any other that puts the Tiko community to the limelight.
Over 40 talented youths from Tiko competed alongside other contestants from towns like Buea, Limbe, Bamenda, Douala and Yaounde in five different categories.
The categories included were fashion designing, modelling, dance, singing and comedy.
The winners of each category bagged home a prize award of 50,000FCFA and other benefits.
Meantime, Ndifor Bingwel and Flora Duira who emerged as winners of the modelling category were crowned as Mister and Miss Tiko respectively.
The former promised to help in the fight against drug addiction amongst his peers, while the latter vowed to contribute in the emancipation of young ladies in the dominant agricultural community of Tiko.
Going by the organisers, the annual show was born out of the absence of opportunities to identify, expose and promote numerous young talents and potentials in the town.
“We organised this Tiko Got Talent to serve as a platform to sell young Cameroonian who have talent and potentials and want to see how they can reach their desired aspirations in life.” The founder, Mukoko John Tanga told News Upfront.
The over one thousand attendees were thrilled by the spectacular performances of music icons like Tzy Panchak, Audrey Monkam – Miss Cameroon amongst others.
Mukoko’s Hope Foundation is a Non-governmental organization having as principal mission to provide people in the community with opportunities and platforms that give them the power and ability to develop their full potentials and contribute in nation building.
It hopes to encourage young Cameroonians to make use of their gifts and to live the better versions of themselves via the life changing talent promotion event dubbed Tiko got talent.
