The 5th edition of Mafor Yah Judith Sunday Epse Achidi’s Peace and Unity Sports Competition came to a thrilling conclusion on Saturday, July 16, 2025, in Ndu. The highly anticipated event, worth 15 million francs CFA, saw Mbem Rangers FC and Youngsters FC Ladies emerge as the top teams in the male and female football categories, respectively.
In the male football final, Mbem Rangers FC of Nwa triumphed over Sunday Sharp of Ndu with a score of 3-2, despite the challenging weather conditions with continuous downpour. Earlier in the day, the female football final saw Youngstars of Nwa ladies defeat Young Talents of Ndu 1-0, showcasing the exceptional skills of the female players.
The competition, which ran for two months during the summer holidays, featured 66 male football teams and 10 teams in other disciplines, including volleyball, handball, and horse racing. Prizes were awarded to winners in these categories, adding to the excitement of the event.
Beyond the sports, the competition also made a significant impact on education in the region. A total of 1500 school children received scholarships, and didactic materials were distributed to facilitate a smooth start to the 2025/2026 academic year in Ndu Subdivision and Donga Mantung Division.
The Peace and Unity Sports Competition, initiated by the Director General of CAMTEL, Mafor Yah Judith Sunday Epse Achidi, aims to promote peace, national unity, and social integration amongst the population of Donga Mantung. By providing a platform for youths from the five subdivisions to compete and interact, the competition has achieved its objective of fostering unity and showcasing talents. The event was a resounding success, and the winners were celebrated for their outstanding performances.
