“I have come to celebrate with you because your presence here is not a coincidence”, Bony Daschaco told the freshmen of the ICT University during their matriculation day.
He was guest speaker at the ceremony. The promoter of Dash Media Group in his over 20 minutes discourse, walked the students through the path of success.
“When I look at you, I see potential entrepreneurs”, he said adding that “nobody should ever tell you that you cannot make it in life,”
Bony Daschaco reminded the students that they are in the era of the 3 Cs (Accelerated Change, Overwhelming Complexity and Tremendous Competition), and should make good use of their creative minds.
Accorsingto him, The ICT University is the ideal place. He said “the quality of education you will receive here will take you to places that you never imagined.”
After convincing the students that they have what it takes to make it in life, the “Media Pope” said the time to start planning for a successful future is now, not tomorrow.
Drawing inspiration from the ‘Bamboo Tree’ theory, Bony Daschaco called on the 700 freshmen to stay focused, develop the culture of perseverance, never give up, and have faith in all they do.
“Don’t listen to detractors”, he said because “their mission is always to drag you down.”
The ‘Bamboo Tree’ Theory
The Bamboo seeds when planted takes about four years to spread its roots firm beneath the earth. During this period, the seed does not germinate out. Within the next year, the seed germinates and in the space of six weeks, it can grow up to 90 feets.
The story about the bamboo is the perfect metaphor for personal growth.
We work on ourselves every single day, and most days we don’t see significant change, or any change at all. We have to continue to build our root system. We have to keep at it and know that it will happen.
“You know that the hard work you plant today will definitely pay off, and it feels so good when you hit that stride, right”, Bony Daschaco told the students.
He encouraged them to build a positive vision of their career while at the ICT University, saying that he would always come to assist them in one way of the other.
