The Memo was paraphrased at the head office of YVE Cameroon in Yaounde on Friday August 12, 2022.

Corentin Etien Yao, Secretary General of YVE Côte D’Ivoire signed on behalf of their organisation.

“We have been discussing for a while now with our colleagues in Cameroon, and we thought it was the best time to materialize our intensions, that is the reason behind today’s signing ceremony”, he said.

The main objective of the MoU is to exchange knowledge, and experiences as well as challenges towards mutualizing efforts in achieving their common goals.

“This will be done mainly by building our capacities”, Corentin told News Upfront.

Special attention would be given to sectors like Climate Change Financing, Climate Change Justice among others.

“We Africans have got talents, we do not need to always rush to the Western world for solutions that are found around us in the continent. All we need is merge strategies”.

Speaking during the ceremony, Alexis Wambo Suffo, board member of YVE Cameroon, who signed for his organization said;

“Both parties are committed to combine their efforts to develop the collaboration, and other areas deemed interesting by both parties may be added to the MoU”.

The Memorandum of Understanding also provides that the parties undertake to exchange information and documents relevant to their activities, facilitate contacts between their staff involved in the collaborative projects, jointly seek funding, just to name but these.

There are also possibilities of extending the present MoU to other sister organizations.

“This is not all, we are already envisaging possibilities to sign similar conventions with YVE Senegal and Niger”, Corentin Etien Yao said.

YVE Cameroon is a movement created in 2012 to defend the rights of local communities, protect the environment and promote sustainable management of natural resources.

The same objectives hold for YVE Côte D’Ivoire, created in 2008 and supported by a dynamic volunteers team evolving as a pole of expertise in environment and sustainable development.
