The Alliance of Progressive Forces (APF) party, has kicked against the move by Cyrille Sam Mbaka, who declared himself president of the APF party on the night of Friday, August 27, 2021.

“This act of his is against the party’s constitution, for the National Council has no power to entertain any electoral question which is the confine of the congress, which took place the next day, Saturday 28th of August 2021, where Hon. Dr. Chia Emmanuel Ngam, was unanimously and in a consensual manner elected.” The Chairman of the Electoral Commission, FONANIH Jonas, wrote in a release signed August 28.

According to scribes of the APF party, Cyrille Sam Mbaka, was not qualified to run as candidate for the elections following article 15 of the statutes of the party as well as article 12 relative to membership.

Officials of APF say, Cyrille Sam Mbaka, only joined the party officially on August 27, 2021 and so was not qualified.

“It should be noted that this act of Cyrille Sam Mbaka is illegal because it violated the time proscribed by the Senior Divisional officer of Yaounde 2.” Mayor FONANIH disclosed in the release, calling on party militants and sympathizers to stay calm and give their full support to the new executive headed by Hon. Sam Mbaka who recently joined the APF party is coming from the Cameroon Democratic Union (CDU) party where he spent close to 30 years and only left following the demise of the party president Dr. Adamou Ndam Njoya.

The road to the presidency of the APF party according to records has always been open to all but reserved for qualified candidates.
