Patricia Tomaino Ndam Njoya is now leader of the Cameroon Democratic Union, CDU Party.

The decision to confer leadership of the CDU Party to the wife of late Dr. Adamou Ndam Njoya was taken April 26, 2020.

It was during the 29th anniversary celebrations of the party that took place in Foumban, Noun Division of the West region of Cameroon.

Patricia Tomaino Ndam Njoya would have to head the party until the next convention billed for 2021.

The politburo members of the party present at the anniversary celebration unanimously voted in favour of her leadership.

Critics were fast to question the choice of Patricia Tomaino Ndam Njoya and not the first vice president of the party according to the party texts.

The first vice president, Cyrille Sam Mbaka was not present at the anniversary celebration.

But according to Moctar Hamza of the national communication secretariat of the party, Sam Mbaka was unavoidably absent for health reasons.

The event was chaired by the second vice president of the party, Christophe Ndeuhela who sat in for Cyrille Sam Mbaka.

It was a low key celebration because of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

On the occasion, an annual prize of 1million FCFA was instituted in memory of late Dr. Adamou Ndam Njoya destined to the best organ of the party that must have distinguished itself through out the year.

It should be recalled that Dr. Adamou Ndam Njoya died last March 7, 2020 after a portracted illness.
