Following an evaluation meeting held Monday by over twenty road transport trade unions in Yaounde, the recent proposal for prices of petroleum products to be reduced, must be respected before April 6th 2020.
According to the National President of the Cameroon Road Transport Professional Workers Union, Jean Louis Mevoungou, a nation wide strike action is inevitable as from April 6th if the government gives a deaf ear to their demands.
The unions want prices of petroleum products to be reduced by at least 200 FCFA (Both Petrol and Gas oil).
They are equally demanding medical kits to be distributed to all registered public transport vehicles in order to avoid the spread of Covid-19 inside vehicles.
The trade unions however believe that the government of Cameroon can avoid the strike action by calling on a crisis meeting with the transporters to map out measures (Compensatory) to be respected by all.
This is a developing story.
