The administration of Cameroon’s lone air carrier, Camair-co and the staff represented by the different trade unions of the enterprise are at loggerheads over a decision to send some employees on technical leave.
Meeting in Yaounde-Cameroon today, May 15, 2020, to decide on the modalities for the leave, the workers categorically refused to be placed on technical leave. The situation has almost degenerated.
To this effect, a crisis meeting for social dialogue with the conflicting parties took place at the Ministry of Labour and Social Security.
Today’s meeting was equally aimed at examining government’s assistance to revive the activities of the air line company.
The decision for a technical leave at Camair-co is provoked by the effects of the novel Coronavirus in Cameroon. With most countries under lockdown, the countries airliner has seen a tremendous drop in revenue given that its local flights and flights within neighboring countries have seen little or no reservations.
This is a developing story…
