At the opening of the 23rd edition of the Chantal Biya International Cycling Tour in Kribi, south region of Cameroon, attention was focused on Cameroonian cyclists. Rodrigue Kuere Nunawe, emerged best Cameroonian of the lap and of the general classification. He took home the Blue jersey offered by Camtel accompanied by a financial package.
The blue jersey prize is set aside to honour Cameroonian cyclists who finish first in each of the laps.
Wednesday, October 4, during the second lap of the tour, another Cameroonian, Clovis Kamzong Abossolo came first and grabbed the blue jersey.
This year, and as tradition demands, the incumbent telecommunications operator is setting aside five blue jersies to the Cameroonian cyclists. One in each of the laps.
Beside the blue jersey prize, Camtel has decided to paint the tour blue. That is how the population and spectators who turned out at the kick off Tuesday in Kribi, received gadgets and gifts from Camtel.
At the end of the second lap, Algerian cyclist, Yacine Hamza is putting on the yellow jersey.
Throughout the tour, a special blue caravan will accompany the cyclists to cheer them up and provide the neccesary support needed.
The third lap of the tour will take the cyclist from Ebolowa to Sangmelima. The 23rd Chantal Biya International Cycling Tour will end on Saturday, October 7, 2023 in Yaounde.
