Though in tears, she was actually looking physically strong and healthy as she landed at the Bamenda Airport in Bafut.
According to the CPDM central committee member, what she went through during her stay in captivity cannot be discussed in a hurry.
She however thanked all those who contributed to her release in one way or the other, amongst them the president of the Republic of Cameroon, Paul Biya.
The tears on her eyes translated the joy of regaining her freedom after spending one month in the wilderness (April 30 – May 30).
Joy because of the concern showed her in the trying moments by all an sundry. Senator Mrs Regina Mundi, is one of those few personalities whose abduction attracted sympathy from people of all walks of life.
“… there is a lady who was with me in the car, she was held captive and the military freed her, this is prove that the military is there to free everyone, not only a senator”, Mrs Regina Mundi declared.
Senator Mrs Regina Mundi, in her motherly attitude equally shed tears of sorrow following what she saw in captivity.
“The North West Region is really at War, and the military has a very difficult task in the region”, she said.
The credits of her liberation go to the military who staged an over 24 hour operation to set her free in a separatist hide out in Ashong, Batibo Sub Division, Mezam Division of the North West Region.
Several other hostages were freed in the process, while a good number of fighters were killed and some arrested.
News of the whereabout of the driver of the senator has not been made public.
