It was a very busy weekend for Hon. Agho Oliver Bamenju in the Bafut-Tubah constituency. The Member of Parliament was on Saturday 11 August 2023, guest at the Njibujang Cultural and Development Association’s General Assembly in Bafut.
Informed about the serious water crisis in the locality and the Njibujang water project, Hon. Agho Oliver Bamenju did not hesitate to support the initiative. He announced a whooping FCFA 500,000 as his support to the Njibujang water project.
Also present at the General Assembly was the pioneer NW Regional Commissioner for Economic Development, Ghejung Awunti, who equally supported the project with FCFA 200,000, and the mayor of Bafut chipped in FCFA 100,000.
The national president of the Njibujang Cultural and Development Association’s (NJIBCUDA), Ngwabumba Pascal, thanked the MP and his entourage for always being there at the right moment with the right support.
Hon. Agho Oliver, seized the occasion to call on the sons and daughters of Njibujang to send back their children to school and distinguish themselves as law abiding citizens. He said security measures have been taken in that light.
Bambui welcomes, honours their leader
The Member of Parliament for Bafut-Tubah constituency, Hon. Agho Oliver was given a heroic welcome by the population of Bambui.
At the General Assembly of the Bambui Women’s Cultural and Development Association which was dedicated to raise funds for the construction of the Bambui Women’s Empowerment Center, the MP in his usual community engagement gestures announced the sum of FCFA 500,000 as his support for the project.
The president of the women’s wing, Mundi Florence on behalf of the BACUDA women thanked the MP for supporting their initiative.
The Fon of Bambui, HRH Angafor Moo-Bo III, who equally attended the ceremony praised the Member of Parliament for all the services to his community.
“You have done so much for us in this village,” he said. “In the heat of the crisis, you provided 2000 roofing sheets to those whose houses were razed down”.
The Member of Parliament has always been there for his people in all the villages that make up his constituency.
The Fon of Bambui continued that “you have been giving scholarships to our children, you have supported the construction of bridges in the village just to name but these”.
One of the recent gestures of Hon. Agho Oliver to the people of Bambui was when the entire village came out to clean the council premises and schools. “You again provided savon to every one who turned out”, HRM Angafor Moo-Bo III said.
Well deserved title
Hon. Agho Oliver is now the mouthpiece (Ntum-for) of the Fon of Bambui. The title was bestowed on him by the Fon of Bambui, HRH Angafor Moo-Bo III with the consent of the secret society (Kwifon).
“It is the first time you are stepping your feet in this palace and we can’t let you go,” the Fon said shortly before announcing the decoration.
“We are begging you to accept this title from the Bambui Fondom, henceforth you are the Ntum-for for the Bambui Fon.”
At the pronouncement, the crowd that turned out at the ceremony shouted in approval, “he deserves it, he even deserves more than that”.
