Valery Giscard d’Estaing was borned on February 1926.
He became the third President of the fifth Republic of France in 1974 after defeating François Mitterand.
He served as president of France from 1974-1981.
Before he became President, he had served in the French national Assembly in 1956.
He represented France in the United Nations General Assembly from 1956-1958.
Mr Giscard was elected as the first President of the independent french Republic in 1966.
He equally participated in the Second World War.
After voted out as french President till his death, he has served in several posts notably in the French National Assembly, European Union and at the French Academy.
Valery Giscard d’Estaing led France in the modern Era and was a key Architect of European integration in the early 1970s.
The Ex-president signed corporation ties with many African countries including Cameroon.
He made his last public appearance on September 30, 2019 during the funeral of another former President Jacques Chirac who has been a prime minister under his rule.
