During a working visit to the North Region Monday November 30, 2020, the Minister held and important security meeting to set the stage for a smooth organisation of the first ever Regional Council Elections in Cameroon.
Paul Atanga Nji was welcomed in Garoua by Governor Jean Abate Edi’i.
At the conference hall of the Governor’s office in Garoua, Minister Paul Atanga Nji reiterated Paul Biya’s wish as concerns the organisation of the polls.
“President Paul Biya wants the elections to be organized all over the country, the head of state wants all the administrative, security and traditional rulers to work in synergy towards achieving that goal” he stated.
Being the first time that Elections Cameroon, Elecam is organising such elections in the country, the Minister called on all an sundry to assist the body in the task ahead it.
Another key point discussed during the security meeting was the issue of insecurity particular to the region where young men use motobikes to cause havoc.
The MinAT boss instructed officials on what to do, but did not hesitate to meet with the bike riders.
He encouraged them to respect administrative orders and identify themselves within their respective activity zones.
The Minister it should be noted was coming from the Far North region of Cameroon where he carried out a similar exercise, encouraging those concerned to fight against organised crimes gradually gaining grounds in the region.
In the Far North, Paul Atanga Nji invited the population to stay off the activities of a growing movement dub “10 Million Northerners” which he described as illegal and liable to destabilise the country.
